Whale Watching from the Heart of Byron Bay

One of the nicest things about a Sundive whale watching trip is how easy it is to get to. We check in and finish right in the Byron Bay town centre, so if you're staying in town you can leave the car (or the hire car you didn't rent) exactly where it is.

How it works

You check in at the Sundive shop on Byron Street, in the heart of the Byron Bay CBD — walkable from most accommodation in town. From there, a short shuttle takes you to the launch point at The Pass and brings you back to the shop afterwards. No driving, no parking to sort out, no separate town to find.

Why launching from The Pass is a treat

The Pass sits right beside Cape Byron and the humpback migration route past Nguthungulli Julian Rocks. Launching here means a shorter run out to the whales, so more of your two hours on the water is spent watching them.

What to bring

Wear clothes you don't mind getting wet (boarding involves wading through shallow water), bring warm layers for the cooler months, and that's about it — ponchos are provided and there's room on board for towels.
