Course details

Cost

$985, including all equipment hire, materials, training and certification fees.

Duration

3 days (weather dependent) combining knowledge development, confined‑water skills and 4 ocean dives at Julian Rocks.

Structure

As soon as you book the course we will sign you up for the PADI Open Water Course eLearning and you can start learning all the scuba diving theory at your own pace in your own time. The theory is quite extensive and the modules are designed for easy comprehension with plenty of video content and simple explanations and short knowledge reviews to track your progress.

The eLearning needs to be completed in full before you come to join the practical session at Sundive.

On your scheduled course days you will focus on developing your practical diving skills. The course will include:

  1. Knowledge Review
Although you will do the bulk of the theory learning on your own we will start with a quick review session to make sure everyone has fully understood all the key concepts and you will have an opportunity to ask your instructor any questions you may still have.
  2. Swim Test
Before going ahead with scuba diving we need to make sure you are a confident swimmer as we'll run a quick swim test that everyone needs to pass before moving into the diving training.
  3. Pool Session – Confined Water Dives – 6 to 8 hours
You will learn and practice all the diving skills in the safety of a pool located just behind our Sundive facilities. Your instructor will demonstrate all the skills and you will have a chance to practice them and then will need to demonstrate good mastery of all skills to be considered ready to move on to the open water dives.
  4. 4 Open Water Dives at Julian Rocks
This is when it starts to get exciting and you will have the privilege to start scuba diving in one of the most extraordinary dive sites in the world. You will practice and demonstrate again all the skills you practiced in the pool in the more challenging open water environment. You will be focused on learning but the abundant marine life of Julian Rocks may not be too respectful of your learning focus and you may receive a visit from a turtle or a shark or a passing manta ray :)
