Course Goals
The PADI Divemaster course has five broad goals:
1. To develop the knowledge, attitudes, judgment and skills for supervising certified divers in shore-based and boat-based diving activities.
2. To develop the knowledge, attitudes, judgment and skills for assisting with training divers in PADI courses.
3. To develop the knowledge, attitudes, judgment and skills for independently conducting specific PADI programs for certified divers and nondivers (e.g., Scuba Review, Discover Snorkeling, PADI Skin Diver course).
4. To develop the candidate’s dive theory knowledge, waterskills, rescue skills and experience to the levels necessary to enter the PADI Assistant Instructor course and the PADI Instructor Development Course. And to encourage the candidate to continue into those programs.
5. To promote each candidate’s growth to meet individual needs and interests, and to meet the dive community’s needs and expectations in dive leaders (e.g., risk management, personal health and safety, the needs of the dive retailer).

Course Prerequisites
To qualify to enter the PADI Divemaster course, an individual must:
1. Be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organization.
2. Be certified as a PADI Rescue Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organization.
If the candidate enters with a qualifying certification, then the candidate must submit proof of CPR and first aid training within the past 24 months.
If the candidate demonstrates poor or inadequate performance during the diver rescue assessment, then the candidate must complete a PADI Rescue Diver course.
3. Have completed and logged at least 20 dives as documented by the individual’s personal log book. 60 logged dives are required prior to certification.
4. Be at least 18 years old at the start of PADI Divemaster training.
5. Submit, to the instructor, medical clearance for diving signed by a physician, attesting to fitness to dive. The medical clearance must be current within the previous 12 months.
Cost: $999. Includes Training Manual, ALL Equipment hire and training.
The DM Application Fee to PADI is a cost of $126.50. This is payable by the student to PADI upon completion.
PADI Required Training Materials are an additional cost.

Duration & Structure
• 14 Days
• A minimum of 50 hours is recommended by PADI
• During the course you will cover:
1. Knowledge development sessions
2. Practical application sessions
3. Waterskills and stamina development and assessment
• If you have not reached the 60 logged dive requirement it is recommended that you stay on after the course as a trainee. Suitable candidates will be able to gain experience in all areas of a PADI 5 StarTraining Centre and accumulate dives at no extra charge.
Passport Photos
• Two passport photos are required per student.
The course we run is intensive and thorough. To meet our scheduling requirements it is important that you are fully prepared to start this course. You must have done a few weeks of independant study and diving to be properly prepared. If you have not dived with Sundive you must do a checkout dive to demonstrate competency.

1. Have you got proof of your Advanced and Rescue certification?

3. Have you got your current First Aid Certificate?
4. Have you completed all the Knowledge Reviews in the DM manual?
5. Have you read and completed the Diving Knowledge Workbook?
6. Have you got proof of 60 logged Dives?
7. Have you done at least 10 dives in the last 6 months?
8. Are you aware that courses will require a minimum number of students to start?
9. Have you got 2 passport photos?
