Diving Expeditions
Welcome to Sundive's Dive Travel page where we offer you quality trips at fantastic prices.
For our dive travel, we carefully select only the most exciting dive destinations and pick the best time of the year to go, so you can lean back and let us do the research, planning and organizing for you.
We also understand that a great dive holiday needs more than just sensational diving. After all, you will only spend a few hours under water everyday, so it is important that the rest of your trip is just as enjoyable. Therefore, we choose only quality accommodation and professional dive operators and aim to offer destinations that also allow you to experience life in exotic countries and have some fun while on the surface.
Our upcoming trips:
*1 November - 8 November 2010* Uepi Island (Solomon Islands)
Uepi Island Resort is perched on the edge of the largest lagoon in the world. Remote and stunningly beautiful, Uepi is for those who really want to get away from it all! Covered with lush tropical rainforest and coconut palms, the island is 2.5 km long and up to 600 metres wide. The resort is the only operation on this remote island. Maximum capacity of 36 guests ensures that all enjoy privacy and the intimacy of a small group of people. Apart from diving, activities include snorkelling (the surrounding waters are teeming with colourful fish and corals, suitable for all levels of snorkeller) and kayaking (local canoes, paddle boards, sailboards and sea kayaks are available for use). Enjoy a relaxing evening paddle to a tropical, sandy beach and watch the magnificent sunset.
Diving Uepi Island: Uepi diving offers fantastic fish life: large pelagics such as trevally, rainbow runners, barracuda and whaler sharks, but also a profusion of sponges and corals, with the convenience of dive sites being located just a short boat trip away. Uepi has magnificent reef diving. Dive sites vary from coral gardens with magnificent drop-offs, ledges and gutters featuring an enormous diversity of reef fish. Turtles, mantas and eagle rays are fairly common sights, as well as large pelagics. Uepi also has some wreck diving: There are three wrecks lying in Wickham Harbour, all are Japanese freighters sunk by the US during World War 2. All are upright, relatively intact and display varying degrees of artefacts and marine life.
Rarely will you view such high concentrations of fish, sponges and corals in such a diverse environment, ranging from coral gardens to vertical drop-offs into 2000 metres of ocean, most within the confines of a three kilometre reef. Water clarity is usually very good and water temperature is about 28−30 °C.

Sundive trip to Palau April 2010 - A Diver's Paradise
Palau is truly a diver's dream come true with its clear tropical waters, it's dramatic walls, over 1,300 species of fish including an abundance of large pelagics, more than 700 species of coral and a large collection of intact WWII shipwrecks. But Palau has as much to offer above the water as below - white sandy beaches paired with fascinating geological formations. Micronesia's richest flora and fauna, hidden marine lakes full of ambushing Jellyfish waiting to steal your speedos ;), ancient culture and not to forget the best restaurants in Micronesia. The Sundive group returned in early May after 12 days of fantastic diving and pure indulgence. Palau really blew our minds and no-one seems to be able to stop talking about it. Apart from the unbelievably good diving, we were fortunate enough to spend our "surface intervals" at the incredible Palau Pacific Resort, Micronesia's finest 5 Star luxury beach resort. Thanks to everyone at Sam's Tours who made our trip unforgettable and whose customer service blew everyone away. You can find more information on our trip to Palau on Sundive's News Page. Photo and video footage of our trip will be available shortly. If you would like to put your name down for our next trip to Palau in May 2011, contact Christina at Sundive on 1800 008755 or send us an email.
*25-27 June 2010* Pirate Trip to South West Rocks
In late June, before the water and weather got too cold for us at South West Rocks, our group of eight set out to dive famous Fish Rock Cave with South West Rocks Dive Centre. This was the first official pirate outing in a very long time... Well equipped with a big box of Lynn Pool's homemade muffins and some nice warm wetsuits, raincoats and beanies, we spend a fantastic weekend with great diving, a lot of laughter and lovely company. Unfortunately, the visibility was not too great (around 5-10 metres), but we still saw plenty of Grey Nurse Sharks and enjoyed the enormous cave. Fish Rock is a magnificent dive site with an abundance of fish life and Grey Nurse Sharks all year round. Thanks to everyone at South West Rocks Dive Centre for looking after us so well and making this a fantastic weekend! We'll be back!
Sundive's trip to Walindi (PNG) October 2009
10 happy Sundivers returned from their trip to Walindi, PNG in early November after a week of fantastic diving, good food and great company. Our thanks go to everyone at Walindi Plantation Resort who made this trip special. We were getting spoiled by the resort's friendly staff and enjoyed a week of diving in 29 degrees and 20-30 meters visibility. Being used to Julian Rocks and really big fish, we had to get our magnifying glasses out to look at pygmy seahorses and all sorts of tiny little crustaceans. Land trips included a nearly too warm for comfort bath and some cold beers in a hot river which ended in tribal face painting and an exciting journey along 'Bang-Bang-Road'. Thanks again to all participating pirates for their company! For more photos including all the amazing creatures we saw underwater go to Steve's gallery
