We run dive and snorkel trips to Julian Rocks everyday. Our departure times are 10:00am and 1:00pm (Monday to Thursday) and 8:15am, 11:00am and 1:00pm (Friday to Sunday and on Public Holidays).

3) How far in advance do I have to book?

For an individual booking, it is generally sufficient if you book 2-3 days in advance. Group bookings should be made at least one month in advance. During peak season (Christmas and Easter Holidays) it is recommended to book earlier.

4) What is the best time of year to dive?

Diving at Julian Rocks is good all year round. However, marine life and water temperature vary during the year. Some of the marine life is seasonal and you will see different species in winter and summer. Grey Nurse Shark season generally ranges from May to November and Leopard Shark season from December to April. Water temperature generally ranges from 18 degrees Celsius in winter to 25 degrees Celsius in summer. The visibility at Julian Rocks changes daily. It depends on the predominant ocean current at the time and cannot be predicted. There is no connection between tides and visibility. For current information check out our Dive Conditions page

5) What can I expect to see?

Julian Rocks is famous for its marine life. It is one of the most abundant fish dives in the world. Warm and cold water currents meet at Julian Rocks, resulting in a spectacular mix of tropical and cold water fish. On most of our dives, we see big sharks and rays, large schools of pelagics, turtles as well as nudibranchs and a lot of smaller marine life. For more information on marine life around Julian Rocks, check out our gallery and www.julianrocks.net

6) What's the water temperature?

The water temperature at Julian Rocks generally ranges from 18 degrees Celsius in August/September to 25 degrees Celsius in February/March. Look at our conditions page for a month by month temp graph.

7) What if I haven't dived in the last twelve months?

If you haven't dived in the last twelve months, we recommend that you participate in a refresher program. This half day program consists of a short pool session followed by a supervised dive with an instructor. The instructor will take you on a dive to one of the shallower dive sites at Julian Rocks and will make sure that you are safe and having fun at the same time.

8) My partner/friend is not certified. Can we still dive together? What else can he/she do?

Persons who are not certified as divers can experience scuba diving during an Introductory Dive. This includes a short pool session and a supervised dive with an instructor. As a certified diver, you can tag along and enjoy the dive with your partner/friend.
Alternatively, your partner/friend can go snorkelling at Julian Rocks. If you book in together, we will ensure that you are on the same boat together.

9) What if it is raining or the weather is bad?

If the conditions are not suitable for Diving or Snorkelling and Sundive decides to
cancel, you will be entitled to a full refund. We will not cancel simply because it is raining. We will cancel if the sea conditions are not suitable e.g. too rough, too windy, very low visibility. If you think the weather is looking bad we suggest you call us at the shop 24 hours ahead to check the conditions.

10) What is your cancellation policy?

We require a minimum of 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule any booking. If any changes are made within 24 hours of the scheduled departure or start time, you are not entitled to any refund. Cancellations of group bookings may require longer notice than 24 hours. Please check when booking.
