Just in time for the Sundive Photo Shoot-out 2011, Sundive Byron Bay, on the NSW far North Coast, has welcomed the arrival of a brand new dive boat. Moby Duck, a 7.6 metre Rigid Hull Inflatable has been designed with the underwater photographer in mind. Custom built and designed by Swift Marine, the new vessel features an abundance of space for divers, equipment, and cameras.

Moby Duck will make daily trips out to one of Australia’s top dive locations, the Julian Rocks Marine Park, located just 2.5 kilometres from the pristine beaches of Byron Bay. Sundive is proud to showcase the new vessel during the 2011 Photo Shoot-Out.

In 2008, the Underwater Photo Competition was created in Byron Bay to promote the unique and diverse marine life at the Julian Rocks. In its fourth year running, the Photo Shoot-Out brings underwater photographers and videographers together to compete on equal grounds in a friendly yet competitive environment.

The Sundive Photo Shoot-Out will be held in Byron Bay from 21st-29th May. The week of events will include a welcome barbeque, daily personal tutorials with Peter Mooney from Scubapix, photo clinics conducted by international award- winning photographer, Ross Gudgeon, and will end with a Grand Finale where winning photos and videos will be announced.

Sundive has teamed up with a generous list of sponsors to offer highly desirable prizes to the first and second place winners in each category. The competition categories include SLR, Compact, Video, and SLR Video.

Prizes and giveaways for the Photo Shoot-Out have exceeded $25,000 in value. The major sponsors include Rodney Fox Shark Expeditions, Dive Adventures, Mares, Scubapix, and Spirit of Freedom.
