Welcome to Sundive
Sundive is Byron Bay's only 5 Star IDC PADI Dive Centre. Since it was established in 1988, Sundive has earned numerous PADI service awards and is internationally recognised as a centre of excellence in diver training.
Training ranges from beginner dive courses through to instructor certifications. The Sundive team, lead by current owner, Giacomo (Giac) Cavazzini, delivers an unequivocally consistent, safe service with the training, education and passion needed to make your diving experience one to remember.
Meet Some Of Our Crew...
Giacomo - Director
has been the proud owner of Sundive since 2002.
An underwater explorer for nearly 20 years, Having concentrated most of his extensive diving career along the NSW Southern coastline Giac has finally found his home among the rich waters of Byron Bay.
Originally from Italy, Giac grew up and learned to dive in Sydney. He is an Environmental Science graduate from UNSW, PADI Master Instructor and a DAN Ist Aid Instructor. He is also trained as a TDI Deco Procedures, Advanced Nitrox and Dolphin SCR Diver.
Jeff - Skipper and Instructor
PADI MSDT, former NAUI Course Director, First Aid instructor, and Coxswain. Jeff's main roles are as a skipper and teaching higher level courses (Rescue & Divemaster).
Jy - Skipper and Instructor
One of the very experienced skippers and instructors at Sundive, Jy grew up with the Julian Rocks as his back yard and surfing the Pass and local beaches... really. If Jy isn't on a dive boat, he is in the surf. He knows the Pass better than most.
Matthew - Skipper and Divemaster
Matt has a love of water. He is a top bloke with an excellent range of talents - both in and out of the water. Matt has been diving with Sundive for many years and is one of our many highly experienced dive masters as well as an excellent coxswain.
Liz - Dive Instructor
Liz has travelled the world but can't stay away from Julian Rocks. She has been diving the rocks for nearly 15 years. Liz is an excellent dive instructor and greatly valued at Sundive.
"Dr." Dave - Divemaster
The fastest man at Sundive.
His speed is only surpassed by his knowledge and enthusiasm. He can identify and find any of the 600 described species in the marine park. One of our most experienced underwater guides having logged thousands of dives at Julian Rocks.
Paul and Sue
Both are qualified Coxswains, Paul is a DM and Sue an Assistant Instructor. Both have managed dive resorts in New Guidea and are very well travelled when it comes to diving! Most importantly they are some of Sundive's best dive guides and will be sure to make your dive enjoyable! Not many divers know the Julian Rocks as well as theses guys!

Sundive operates two to three Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats. Catering for only a small number of divers, the boats and skippers ensure a safe and comfortable ride in any sea.
This is Moby Duck - powered by a 300hp V6 Yamaha outboard, she is the fastest boat in Byron Bay. Our boats are launched at The Pass (pictured) so the trip to Julian Rocks takes only a few minutes.

We sell a wide range of diving and snorkeling gear including masks, fins, BCDs, wetsuits, T-shirts and disposable cameras.
We can also service gear and fill tanks.
